Ma Lin is a young percussionist with the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, and former percussionist of the Qianwei Art Troupe under the Jinan Military Region.
He holds multiple academic positions: Director of the China National Orchestra Society; Executive Director of the Percussion Professional Committee under the China National Orchestra Society; Vice President of the Percussion Society of Shandong Musicians Association.
Awards & Military Honors
- 2007: Gold Medal, Youth Professional Percussion Group, the 1st CCTV "Yashili Cup" National Traditional Chinese Instrumental Music Competition
- 2006: Awarded the Second-Class Merit Citation by the Political Department of Jinan Military Region
- 2007 & 2010: Awarded the Third-Class Merit Citation by Jinan Military Region respectively
Compositions & Awards for Works
He has composed numerous percussion pieces, including Tell Me, Dadu River, Triumph, Sharpen Swords in the Central Plains, and March in Perfect Unison.
Among them, Tell Me, Dadu River and March in Perfect Unison won First Prizes for Original Works in major national and military competitions and performances.
Key Performance Experiences
- 2018: Invited to the percussion concert Drumming for Life – An Zhishun’s Percussion Works, performing as soloist on Chinese barrel drums for the piece Two Dragons Playing with Plum Blossoms (Barrel Drum & Orchestra).
- 2019: Joined the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra’s U.S. tour Charming China.
- 2019: Created and directed the percussion piece Love on the Road for Shandong Provincial Public Security Department, which claimed the Gold Award at the 4th National Public Security Cultural Performance Gala.
- 2021: Performed as barrel drum soloist for the Chinese orchestral work Great Tidal Wave at the Teachers’ Day themed concert Spring Blossoms and Autumn Fruits of the National Centre for the Performing Arts Autumn Season.
- Featured as lead percussionist for the Chinese orchestral piece Dragons Soaring and Tigers Leaping at the New Year Concert Enduring Chinese Melodies – 2022 Traditional Chinese Orchestral Gala.
